The Stunning Windmills of Bangui

Bangui Windmills

Out of all the attractions that I have visited in Ilocos Norte, Bangui Wind Farm was my favorite. Formally known as the Northwind Bangui Bay Project, the Bangui Wind Farm is composed of 20 units of 1.65 MW wind turbines, each 70 meters tall, arranged in a single row and forming a beautiful arc along the shoreline of Bangui Bay. Tourists refer to them more popularly as Bangui Windmills.

I was blessed with a bright blue sky during my visit which made the white turbines look even more stunning in photos. My tour guide Kuya Jose brought me in between the 8th and 9th wind turbines. It would have been nice to capture all twenty from one end but due to time constraints I was limited to shooting from somewhere in the middle. The only consolation out of it was that I had left side and right side photos of the windmills.

After seeing the windmills up close, Kuya Jose brought me to the view deck in which i got a good glimpse of all the windmills along with the long stretch of Bangui Bay, the mountains and lush flora. You will find at the view deck several souvenir stalls selling cute tabletop windmills, pencil holders, and keychains.

My visit to the Bangui Wind Farm was part of my South Pagudpud tour consisting of three destinations: Bangui Wind Farm, Kapurpurawan Rock Formations, and Cape Bojeador Lighthouse. The tour rate is 600 pesos per tricycle, good for a maximum of 3 persons. If you plan to skip the tour and visit Bangui Wind Farm only, you can catch a tricycle at the junction along the highway for 100 pesos per way.

Too bad, we left our cam's battery when we got there.

    1. For someone who's on a leisure trip, leaving his/her camera or any of its accessories is one of the most frustrating things that could ever happen. Haha. I also forgot my remote shutter when I went here so I had to rely on my tripod and self-timer. :)

      Thanks for dropping by! :)
